I'm an Emmy Nominated documentary film director whose work centers human connection, community storytelling and joy.

When I was a little girl growing up on the South-Side of Chicago, I was curious about everything. I asked a lot of questions. Much to the annoyance of the adults in my life.

I liked studying, dismantling objects to see how they worked. Still do. I've been playing with cameras most of my life. The rich diversity of this city and the CTA allowed me to “travel,” when my pocket book wouldn't. I went to Chicago Public Schools, I worked my way through college at UIC. The arts, my lifeline.

Side-bar: I honestly believe that the most radical hip, amazing revolutionary thing you can do if you carry any kind of privilege is to send your kids to public school.

The diverse communities I had the privilege of growing up in, changed my life. I quickly learned the stories told about where I came from with words like: “dangerous, scary, bad,” but if the world is watching us in Chicago, I want my films to show them the truth of who we are. Every person I work with in my films, reminds me of the kids I grew up with: making the best of every opportunity with passion, joy and grit. Many of whom are back at it, as adults: teaching, organizing, leading the communities we came from. Not unlike myself, after gaining experience in the film industry, I opened my own business and got to work. Now I partner with foundations, non-profits, small businesses and community groups to tell stories with purpose and agency.

Contact

Filmmaking is a contact sport that requires high collaboration, emotional intelligence and project planning skills.

The systems required to do the work are as beautiful in design as the films themselves.

With over 25 years of experience creating work with clients - I come with lots of ideas, energy and passion backed by real world application.
